Each year, we invite high school- and college-age students to apply for our scholarship opportunities. Through this, we aim to lower barriers to educational access among people that have been impacted by substance use in some way.
Applications typically open during the first week of August and will close at the end of October, for funds to be disbursed either in the Spring semester or the next Fall semester, depending on the students' preferences.

During the summer of 2020, we created a substance use curriculum in collaboration with researchers at Johns Hopkins University. This curriculum is now used by Johns Hopkins in their community and high school substance use awareness events, and we have incorporated it into 11 high schools across Alaska!
Our approach to substance use education and awareness emphasizes the unfiltered reality of substance misuse, its dangers, and the effects that it has on those that we know and love. Beyond this, we explore ways that other communities have begun to address the epidemic and its health risks, such as needle-exchange programs, and what we can do moving forward.
After speaking with many different people that have been incarcerated or placed in rehabilitation homes for issues related to substance use, it became obvious that there was a major lack of support for them as they tried to make change in their lives.
The June Group allows individuals to anonymously contact our organization, either through our website, email, or other social media platforms, and our team will connect them to relevant resources and organizations that provide the support they need. Through this, we can help to improve accessibility to important resources and support systems that make a difference on the path to treatment and recovery.
The June Group was founded with the main goal of supporting our communities. The first step in accomplishing this and tackling the issue of substance use is enhancing community-wide awareness of its causes and effects, as well as what we can do to improve the situation moving forward.
Through different social media campaigns, in-person events, and partnerships with other organizations in our community, we hope to increase visibility of the realities of substance use and the steps that we can take together.
There are many different ways that you can support your community, and making a donation to local charities and non-profits is an easy way to help those in need.
The June Group organizes different food, clothing, and fundraising drives that directly impact Alaskans. Any monetary contributions will be used to purchase items for our drives or to support our annual scholarships, and we also accept donations of certain items.
Although our team helps to connect individuals with relevant resources, we also work to identify areas where there may be very little support so that we can develop our own.
The substance use epidemic is an ever-evolving issue, and we are continuously working to find and develop unique ways to support those in need. Two projects that have emerged from our focus on resource development are The June Group's substance use curriculum, and a seminar series on financial literacy for those that have previously been incarcerated or placed in rehabilitation homes.
